Industrial wipes for production and maintenance

Power Wipes by Cleanline Industries are industrial wipes for the production floor and the maintenance department. Every wipe comes out of the dispenser moist and ready to use, and takes oil, grease, ink, glue residue and soot deposits off machines, tools and control panels. There is no water, soap or rinsing involved, so cleaning happens at the machine instead of at a sink.

Each dispenser holds 100 wipes of 20 x 28 cm in 100% viscose, made from wood fibre and fully biodegradable. Cleanline Industries produces them itself in the Netherlands.

Industrial cleaning wipes on the production line

On a line it is the small spills that cause trouble: a film of oil on a guard, grease on the control panel, glue residue next to the dosing head. With a dispenser at each workstation an operator deals with it straight away, without leaving the line to look for a cloth and a bottle.

Typical spots on the production floor:

  • control panels and push buttons, with the machine switched off
  • machine guards, frames and covers
  • conveyor frames, side guides and the outside of rollers
  • tools and jigs at the workstation
  • the outside of dosing units and glue guns

Wipes for maintenance and planned stops

Maintenance engineers use the wipes during planned stops and breakdowns: grease off a bearing housing before inspection, oil off a gearbox cover to see where a leak starts, penetrating oil off a bolt once it has come loose. The dispenser goes along on the tool trolley and weighs about 1 kg.

Before you clean moving parts, switch the machine off and lock it out according to your site procedure. Wiping a running conveyor or spindle is never safe.

Compared with cloths and a spray bottle

A wipe from the dispenser is already moist, so there is no dosing and no open container of cleaner on the workstation. The wipes are made without aggressive chemicals or solvents, which keeps the work more pleasant for the people on the line.

Used wipes with oil or grease on them count as chemical waste. Collect them with your other oily waste, in line with the waste rules of your site.

Stock for several departments

An unopened dispenser keeps a long time, so you can hold stock in the stores and issue dispensers per department. A box contains 6 dispensers and a pallet holds 30 boxes, 180 dispensers in all. The price per dispenser drops from a box of 6 and again per pallet; the current prices are in the price panel on this page and in the order block.

Use at the machine

  1. 01Switch the machine off and lock it out before you touch moving parts.
  2. 02Take a wipe from the dispenser and click the lid shut again.
  3. 03Wipe the oil, grease or ink off panels, guards and frames.
  4. 04Use a fresh wipe as soon as the first one is dirty, so you do not smear residue over clean metal.
  5. 05Let the surface dry briefly and restart the machine according to procedure.
  6. 06Dispose of the used wipe with the oily waste.

What the wipes do

  • Take oil, grease and lubricating grease off machine frames, guards and tools
  • Remove ink and glue residue from control panels and covers
  • Clean conveyor frames and side guides during a stop
  • Work at the workstation without water, soap or rinsing
  • Stay moist in a closed dispenser on the line

What they do not do

  • They are not meant for use on the skin
  • They are not for cleaning live electrical parts; switch off first
  • They do not replace a degreasing bath or a certified surface pre-treatment
  • They do not remove cured coatings or hardened adhesive

Questions

Industry and production

Can operators use the wipes on control panels?

Yes, with the machine switched off. Keep the wipe away from open connectors and live parts. On a display or a coated membrane keypad, test first on a corner.

Can we use the wipes to prepare parts for bonding or coating?

No. The wipes take oil and grease off tools and machines, but they are not a replacement for a degreasing bath or a certified pre-treatment. If a process specification calls for a defined surface condition, follow that specification.

What happens to used wipes on our site?

The wipe on its own is 100% viscose and biodegradable. Once it has oil or grease on it, it is chemical waste, so it goes with the oily rags in the waste stream your site already has for them.

How do we keep the wipes from drying out on the line?

Click the lid shut after every wipe. A dispenser that stands open overnight loses moisture in the top wipes, and those then work less well. With the lid closed, the wipes stay moist.

Can we order as a business with our VAT number?

Yes. Choose business at checkout and you see prices excluding VAT. You enter your VAT number when you pay, VAT is reverse charged outside the Netherlands, and the invoice comes by email.
